Ever hear of a Luthier?

I hadn't either, until I met my neighbor Kevin about a year ago. His shop is right next to my studio. Kevin and I not only share wifi but we also share a deep passion and desire for creating and crafting.

A luthier makes lamp shades from human skin. Just kidding, here is the real definition:

lu·thi·er : [ˈlo͞odēər] / NOUN - a maker of stringed instruments such as violins or guitars.

So my neighbor repairs and makes violins, cellos and violas by hand. I thought I was impressive when I made my first batch of craft beer, but this is a whole level of artisan that no Brooklyn hipster could ever touch. I hope you enjoy the pictures and give my friend Kevin a call if you want a custom, handmade cello for Valentine's Day. http://chapinviolins.com

Behind the scenes..

Here I am shooting an industrial fashion ad for Dymax with my peeps at the Mascola Group. I have been working with Mascola for years and we do a lot of great--and fun--projects together. Here is an image of me photographing the model and then two finished images for the ad.  It would have been great to see the entire car but we had to focus on the finger nail polish since that is what we were selling. Need to get more classic cars in my shoots!
